Gaza (CDD)

We continue to be able to grow this model of expansion in Palestine via a CDD in aid to the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the impact on women, children and young people. As most of you are aware, we have a deep connection with our partners at Alrowwad Theatre in the Aida camp in Bethlehem, Palestine, and with this new partnership in Gaza, we continue to grow our focus of peace and justice in Palestine/Israel.

Specifically, a donation of £18,000 was made toward two projects in Gaza seeking to address the trauma and impact of the blockade and working to build a long-term future that will not be governed by conflict, fear and dependence on aid programmes. Both projects have long relationships with our friends at Amos Trust, and we join in their efforts with our partnership.

The two projects of support are first, a Technical Vocational and Educational Training Programme (TVET) that focuses on the young people there who have very little career options, giving one to three year courses in carpentry, metal work, dressmaking, bookkeeping and more focus on labour and market needs to ensure employment is gained and maintained, as oftentimes these youth are the sole breadwinners in their family.

Second, a Breast Cancer Screening & Psychosocial Support Health Initiative which will seek to supplement emergency relief with focus on women and children through their community breast cancer awareness and screening programme, infant health and nutrition programme and their physiotherapy and psychosocial support services.
